La llorona or in English translate to the weeping lady has terrified people for years. There are a lot of versions of this story some say that its roots trace back all the way to Spanish conquest in Mexico. Some say her name was la Malinche and others that it was Maria .In every legend it is said she came from a lower status from province. She was beautiful and cought every man’s attention she was tall slender and had long black silky hair. She loved to wear a white gown. In one of the oldest legend it is said she was Cortez mistress she gave birth to two twin boys. Cortés continues his conquests. The King and Queen of Spain, fearing that Cortés has betrayed them and is building his own empire, repeatedly ask him to return to Spain. He refuses, saying that if he leaves they will lose their new territories. The King and Queen send a beautiful Spanish lady to convince him to return. The Spanish lady seduces Cortés, convincing him to return to Spain with his two sons. Cortés tells La Malinche of his decision to return with his children and to leave her behind.
